Ahoy, mateys! Ye've plundered our Pirates and Pirate Island escape rooms, outwitted Calico Jack's ragtag crew, and swiped his booty, eh? But what's next... cast yer eyes upon Dead Man's Chest, an all-new escape experience coming soon to Escape This Sydney CBD!


With Calico Jack's treasure chest in your grasp, the moment to crack open the lock and lay bare your newfound fortunes draws near. However, a time-worn curse, as ancient as the seven seas, holds the treasure captive within. To shatter this curse, unravel the enigmas and conundrums concealed both on and within the chest. Only upon exposing the true secrets of Dead Man's Chest and its accursed bindings will you be entitled to claim your treasure. But hold tight! The sands of time have turned against ye and yer crew... you have only a mere 60 minutes to reveal the treasure before the curse snatches back the chest and yer shipmates with it!

  • ✋ Will our group be playing with strangers?

    At Escape This, all bookings are exclusive to your group. This has always been (and will remain to be) our policy before, during and after Covid.


    If you want to be locked in a room with a group of people you have never met before (some people do!) then we recommend you try another escape room experience provider.

  • 🎭 Can we come dressed up?

    You certainly can! If you have ever considered dressing up for your escape room experience we encourage you to do so.


     Come as Captain Blackbeard, Johnny Depp, Jack Sparrow or a lowly deckhand. Remember, bonus points if your group can speak like pirates from start to finish!

  • ⏳ How long will the Dead Man's Chest experience last?

    You'll have 60 minutes from commencement of the Dead Man's Chest experience to break the curse and claim your treasure. 


    We recommend you arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled start time and if you allow for 15 minutes afterwards, to catch your breath and debrief, your whole experience will last up to 60 minutes. 


    You may be one of the lucky ones to escape earlier, in which case your time with us may be shorter.

  • ❓ How many people can play Dead Man's Chest at the same time?

    The maximum group size that our Dead Man's Chest escape experience can accomodate is 5 people.

  • 🗣️ What if I don’t speak English fluently?

    Spoken cues and clues are a key element of our escape rooms. Presently, these cues are only available in English, though we are working towards multi-language options. To ensure the best escape experience in the meantime, we recommend that the majority of your player group should be fluent in English.

  • 👍 Is Dead Man's Chest a good choice for my first escape room?

    Absolutely, Dead Man's Chest is a great choice for first time escapers up for a challenge!

  • 🦺 Are there any health & safety precautions we should know about?

    Like all escape rooms, Dead Man's Chest is a controlled lighting environment. It may feature periods of complete darkness and/or flashing lights. Similarly, you might experience confined spaces and/or jump scares during your escape. If you have any concerns or questions, please raise these with our Gamesmasters at check-in.
