Escape This is eaily accessible via public transport, and is less than a 10 minute walk away from Town Hall station, with plenty of street and paid parking options nearby.

Pirates will have a difficulty rating of 6 out of 10.  A nice entry point for first time players, but still challenging for experienced escapers.

Pirates is not too hard, not too easy. Numbers, patterns, places for things to go... everything you need is usually right in front of you, you just need to put it all together. Read more about our difficulty levels here.

Absolutely! Pirates is very popular with childrens groups who love the immersive feel of finding themselves aboard a pirateship. And whilst it is a very popular room with children, adults love it too! So it's a great choice for a family outing.

A few rules though:

1. The minimum recommended player age is 9 years old. We welcome children from age 7 to play as paid guests when with family groups.
2. Groups with children aged 9 and under require a parent or guardian be in the room as a paid participant.
3. If the group contains any children under the age of 14 then an adult must remain onsite for the duration of the booking (but does not need to accompany the group into the room).
4. If the whole group is 14 and older no adult needs to remain on site.
5. If you have a child too young to participate, we can sometimes arrange for them to accompany the group as a spectator into the room, though they do count toward room’s player capacity for fire safety purposes.

At Escape This, all bookings are exclusive to your group. This has always been (and will remain to be) our policy before, during and after Covid.

If you want to be locked in a room with a group of people you have never met before (some people do!) then we recommend you try another escape room experience provider.

You certainly can! If you have ever considered dressing up for your escape room experience we encourage you to do so. 

Come as Captain Hook, Sinbad, Jack Sparrow, or even a Pirate wench. Remember, bonus points if your group can speak in a pirate voice from start to finish!

You'll have one hour from getting locked up to escape Calico Jack's ship. 

We recommend you arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled start time and if you allow for 15 minutes afterwards, to catch your breath and debrief, your whole experience will last up to 90 minutes. 

You may be one of the lucky ones to escape earlier, in which case your time with us may be shorter.

The maximum group size that the Pirates escape room can accomodate is 8 people.

Our group limits are set to optimise gameplay and ensure a truly immersive experience for all our guests. Fortunately for you, it is company policy to never compromise on your gameplay experience so these limits are NOT flexible! 

If your group is larger than 8 players we suggest that you book multiple rooms to start at the same time and split your group across the rooms. Thus ensuring the very best experience for everyone in your group.

First time escapers will find Pirates quite challenging but it remains a very popular choice for first timers. 

So yes it's a great choice and our gamesmasters will be on hand to offer any extra clues if you need them.

Spoken cues and clues are a key element of our escape rooms.

Currently we have the clues for Pirates available in English and Simplified Chinese, though we are working towards more language options in the future.

In the meantime, we recommend that the majority of your player group should be fluent in English or Mandarin.

Yes! Pirates is a wheelchair accessible escape room, and a popular one at that with our wheelchair and limited mobility patrons. 

Please note a limited number of puzzles may be more challenging or difficult to access from a wheelchair, but as escape rooms are a team game requiring a mix of skills and abilities from team members, this should not affect your enjoyment of our rooms. 

Please note, Pirates is equipped to accommodate no more than one wheelchair per session.

Like all escape rooms, Pirates is a controlled lighting environment. It may feature periods of complete darkness and/or flashing lights. Similarly, you might experience confined spaces and/or jump scares during your escape. If you have any concerns or questions, please raise these with our Gamesmasters at check-in.
