Before You Book FAQs

  • 🤰 Can I play an escape room if I am pregnant?

If you are fit and well, then pregnancy is not a barrier to play Escape This. There are chairs in many of our escape rooms, and players can leave the room at any time if needed. But this is very much your call, and you accept that you do this at your own risk as some of the games can be a bit jumpy. We absolutely do not recommend Buried Alive if you are pregnant.

  • 🙅‍♂️ Is an escape room suitable if I am claustrophobic?

We recommend you avoid Buried Alive, but as for our other escape rooms, it depends on how severe your claustrophobia is. This is your decision. It may help to know that: The door is not locked. You are free to leave at any point during the game.

  • 🗣️ What if I don’t speak English fluently?

Spoken cues and clues are a key element of our escape rooms. Presently, these cues are only available in English, though we are working towards multi-language options. To ensure the best escape experience in the meantime, we recommend that the majority of your player group should be fluent in English.

  • ♿ Are escape rooms suitable for people with accessibility requirements?

We welcome players with hearing difficulties, but one member of the team will be required to have fully functional hearing as there are audio puzzle. All our rooms depend on the use of vision and mobility and contain some physical obstacles and challenges, so please call or email to discuss your situation. If you have any special requirements, please let us know in the booking form, or send an email to bookings@escapethis.com.au

  • 👥 How many people can play in an Escape Room?

Room capacities vary but are generally between between 2 and 12 players. The more players (brains) tackling puzzles, the quicker you can escape. Check each room page for the different minimum/maximum players allowed.

Make A Booking FAQs

  • 🎟️ Are your escape room group maximums flexible?

No, fortunately for you they are not!

Our room capacities are set to maximise enjoyment and ensure a totally immersive experience for all our guests. We cannot compromise the quality of your experience. If your group size is too large then we recommend splitting across multiple rooms.

  • ✅ Can we book multiple rooms to start at the same time?

Absolutely! If your group is split across multiple rooms we can arrange for everyone to start at the same time.

Use our multi room bookers - link at the top of the relevent centres booking page - select the rooms you want to book and select your start time.

  • 🚸 What is the minimum age to play an escape room?

The minimum age is 9 years unless a particular room specifies an older age limit. Children aged 7 and up may play as part of a larger family group. We do recommend a mixed age range to complete the mission or escape the room successfully.

    A few rules though:

    1. The minimum recommended player age is 9 years old. We welcome children from age 7 to play as paid guests when with family groups.
    2. Groups with children aged 9 and under require a parent or guardian be in the room as a paid participant.
    3. If the group contains any children under the age of 14 then an adult must remain onsite for the duration of the booking (but does not need to accompany the group into the room).
    4. If the whole group is 14 and older no adult needs to remain on site.
    5. If you have a child too young to participate, we can sometimes arrange for them to accompany the group as a spectator into the room, though they do count toward room’s player capacity for fire safety purposes.
  • 🚫 Can children play an 18+ room accompanied by an adult?

Absolutely not! Our horror themed rooms contain adult themes not suitable for children. Fortunately, we have a number of equally thrilling adventure rooms which are family friendly if you wish to take on the challenge of an escape room with your children.

  • 🎫 How do I book an escape room?

The quickest and easiest way to book is to book online via this website. But, if you have a question that you can’t find the answer to on our website, then drop us an email or call us using your chosen centre's contact details.

  • 🙌 Can I book an escape room to play today?

Last-minute bookings are possible if we have space. Our website features live availability so you can always see if there is a last minute slot available.

  • 🤔 Can I book for X now and pay for additional people when we arrive?

Yes. As long as you do not exceed the maximum group size for the room you are welcome to bring extra guests and pay for them on the day. Remember, escape rooms are very much the more the merrier!

  • 🙅 The room maximum says 4, but our group size is 5 can you fit another in?

No, unfortunately not. If your group size is larger than the maximum for the room you will need to book multiple rooms.

  • 🍔 Do you offer catering at Escape This?

No, but our escape room centres are all located centrally (in entertainment centres or districts) surrounded by cafe's restaurants and bars.

Finding food before or after your escape room experience will never be a problem.

  • 💲 Do you offer group discounts for escape room bookings?

Yes. All of our rooms have a sliding scale of prices - the larger the group the lower the per person price.

For multi room bookings with very large group sizes we sometimes run additional promotions. Check out our promotions page to see our current offers.

On The Day FAQs

  • ⌛ How long does an escape room last?

The whole experience will last approximately 75 minutes (including a briefing and debrief), depending on how fast you can escape. There will be a short briefing followed by a 60-minute game. After the experience, there will be a team photo, and a debrief.

Please note some of our escape experiences such as The Presidents Briefcase have shorter game times.

  • ⌚ When should I arrive for my Escape Room booking?

Please arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before your scheduled experience as departing gamers may let information slip and spoil your game. If you find yourself running late, please call and let us know. Late arrival might reduce the amount of playing time available if the following session time has been booked by other teams.

  • 👟 What should I wear to an Escape Room?

There is no dress code – you can arrive straight from the office, worksite, gym or home. Dress as you please. Fancy dress is also an option and may add to your experience.
